King Charles III announced Prince William and Kate Middleton's new titles on Sept. 9.

His Majesty said, "I know he and Catherine will lead our national dialogues."

William and Kate will take on new roles.

After Queen Elizabeth II's death on Sept. 8, Prince Charles became King Charles III.

Some may ask what will happen to Prince Charles' 1958 title.

William, the Duke of Cambridge, is not the new Prince of Wales because it's not hereditary.

Kate will be William's first Princess of Wales since Princess Diana.

This means William and Kate, known as the Cambridges, may become the Waleses.

William was called Wales because of his parents' titles.
